This page provides details regarding Federal and Local Netzer activities

Netzer (Noar Tzioni Reformi), is the Progressive Zionist Youth Movement affiliated with the World Union of Progressive Judaism. Netzer has branches (sniffim) from Argentina to Hungary and Australia. Their ideology centres around the famous 'Five Concentric Circles', which are based on the principles of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world). Participants range from the ages of eight to eighteen and meet together on a weekly basis. In addition, they also attend summer and winter camps that are conducted by a skilful leadership body. The leaders (Bogrim) have all undergone intensive training and education during a years' stay in Israel. Although Netzer is not aligned with any particular political party in Israel, they take an active involvement in all relevant issues facing world Jewry today.

A Taste of Netzer

A Taste of Netzer was an exciting initiative designed to increase awareness of Netzer in SE QLD and provide our community with an opportunity to benefit from the knowledge and experience that Netzer offers. In 2009 Brisbane Progressive Jewish Congregation and Temple Shalom Gold Coast co-hosted the camps on behalf of the Progressive community of South East Queensland.

The first camp was held from 8th - 10th of May and was very successful. Slide shows are available of services, youth activities, adult activities, group activities, and Jewpardy! Click here to view a collage of photos from the camp.

The second camp for 2009 was held from 30th October to 1st November. Once again, a good time was had by all. Click here for a collage of photos from our second camp.

All fund raising at the camps was to support the URJ / UPJ Nothing but Nets anti-malaria campaign. Our combined total for the year was over $425; this equates to enough anti-malarial nets for more than 175 people! Well done and thank you to all those who contributed.
